Zvezda

After completing her studies in London, the artist Zvezda returns to Bulgaria to support her mother. She secures her first solo show at a prestigious Sofia gallery, but the anticipated opening triumph is thwarted by a Covid lockdown. In response, Zvezda retreats into the gallery, choosing to exist among her canvases as a living sculpture—visible from the streets and online—in a radical act of exhibitionism that also endangers her mother's health. The fleeting celebrity she attains amid a period of cultural stagnation comes at the price of her humanity and values.
