Coxey's Army Marches For Jobs In Washington D.C.

In spring 1894, a bunch of jobless folks from across the U.S. marched to Washington D.C. during the Panic of 1893, hoping for jobs and a little help. Led by Jacob Coxey and his crew, they faced tough times and even got arrested. Known as Coxey's Army, they boldly demanded road-building jobs to shine a light on their struggles and call for change.
