APC Leadership Promises Rewards for Cross-Party Support
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has pledged to provide significant rewards to members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who support its candidates in the upcoming 2027 elections.
FCT APC Chairman Tanko Yamawo made the assurance during an interactive meeting held in the Kuje Area Council. The gathering was convened by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and included political leaders from both the APC and PDP, as well as traditional rulers.
Yamawo stated that the growing cooperation between the two parties under the Rainbow Coalition framework would yield political benefits for members of both groups. He specifically noted that those supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election would see positive outcomes from this alignment.
Describing the alliance as a new chapter in the territory’s political history, Yamawo likened the arrangement to Gayya, a traditional communal farming practice. In this tradition, community members work collectively with the understanding that their efforts will be reciprocated by others in the future.
Minister Wike Credited for Reducing Political Hostilities
Yamawo commended Minister Wike for fostering peace and cooperation between members of both parties. He reported that the alliance had reduced political hostilities during recent campaigns, creating a more stable environment for political engagement.
The APC chairman said the partnership had enabled leaders from both the APC and PDP to share ideas and work together on issues affecting the territory. He added that this cooperation could deliver tangible results for the FCT as activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.
Yamawo expressed optimism that sustained collaboration would strengthen political engagement and promote development across the FCT. He emphasized that the unity observed during the current period was unprecedented in the territory’s recent history.
Statements on Campaign Conduct and Future Outlook
Highlighting the change in campaign dynamics, Yamawo stated that this was the first time the APC had campaigned in the FCT without any recorded car-smashing incidents. He attributed this peaceful conduct directly to the unity in the territory, which he credited to the Honourable Minister.
Looking toward the future, Yamawo made a direct appeal to party members regarding the strategic value of their current cooperation. He stated, “Today is an era to farm for the APC. If this unity continues, and I believe, Insha’Allah, it will, we are going to pay back to the PDP in a big way.”
This assurance underscores the APC’s long-term strategy in the FCT, where cross-party alliances are being leveraged to secure political dominance in the next electoral cycle. The chairman’s remarks suggest that support for the current administration and its allies is viewed not merely as a temporary tactical move, but as an investment with guaranteed returns for those who back the party ahead of the 2027 polls.
