Chandrasekhar Questions Offer Amid Exhibition Dispute

BJP Keralam president Rajeev Chandrasekhar has criticized Chief Minister V D Satheesan's offer to host a photography exhibition by Raihan Vadra, the son of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Chandrasekhar alleged that the offer constituted preferential treatment for a political dynasty while young Malayali protesters faced police action.

The controversy stems from a dispute over Vadra's solo exhibition, titled "No Idea Is Final," which documented protests over a six-month period. Vadra alleged that the administration at Bikaner House in New Delhi removed several photographs from the show. He warned on social media that the exhibition could be cancelled unless the images were reinstated by 5 pm on Wednesday.

Following these allegations, Satheesan offered to host the exhibition in Kerala. Chandrasekhar addressed this development in social media posts dated October 23, 2026.

Allegations of Double Standards

In his posts, Chandrasekhar stated that he had no objection to the chief minister hosting exhibitions by prominent political families, such as the son of Wayanad MP. However, he argued that the situation was problematic given the treatment of young protesters in Kerala.

Chandrasekhar alleged that these young Malayali protesters were subjected to tear gas and physical assault by police acting on the chief minister's instructions. He questioned whether democracy and rights were only considered important for dynastic families, contrasting Vadra's situation with the treatment of local demonstrators.

Broader Political Criticism

The BJP leader used the incident to raise additional issues in his social media posts on October 23. He highlighted concerns regarding unemployment and alleged political corruption. Chandrasekhar also referenced a case involving the alleged forced marriage of an underage Muslim girl, which he claimed violated the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Chandrasekhar stated that there was no point in blaming the young photographer for the conduct of his political family. He described the politics of Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party as fraudulent and dishonest.
