Former Employees Detail Conditions at Dayton Roundtable

Former employees of Fuyao Glass America gathered in Dayton, Ohio, on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026, to describe working conditions at the Chinese-linked manufacturer to Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif. The gathering took place at the International Union of Electrical Workers local hall.

Khanna, who serves as the ranking member on the House Select Subcommittee on the Chinese Communist Party, convened the roundtable to conduct congressional oversight regarding the company's operations in Ohio. During the event, former workers detailed allegations of extreme temperatures, suppression of unionization efforts, and safety concerns following a fatal workplace incident.

Tiffany Moore, who identified herself as a three-year veteran of the factory, told the group that the heat inside the facility was unbearable. She stated that management did not care about worker comfort. "My experience at Fuyao was not a good experience," Moore said, according to Fox News.

Demetria Hodges, who identified herself as having worked at Fuyao for five years, explained that the company went to great lengths to prevent workers from unionizing. She claimed the company offered a $2 an hour pay raise but never followed through on the increase.

A former employee named Darrell stated that the company failed to cease operations when 57-year-old Ricky Patterson was killed by glass at the facility. Darrell noted that workers were required to work the next day despite the stress of the incident.

Khanna Criticizes Company's Response to Oversight

Rep. Khanna sent Fuyao a letter requesting information on wage suppression and worker conditions. He stated that the company provided only a single reply letter dated September 23, which he said answered virtually none of the committee's questions materially.

In an Oct. 6 letter to Fuyao leadership, Khanna wrote that a generous interpretation of the company's approach was that they do not appreciate Congress's oversight function. He added that a less generous interpretation was that the companies have something to hide.

Khanna requested permission to visit the Lorraine, Ohio, factory but did not receive express permission from the company.
