TUMAKURU: Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief BY Vijayendra issued a demand on Tuesday for the state government to immediately release a special relief package valued at Rs 10,000 crore. The primary objective of this financial assistance is to support farmers who are currently facing distress due to adverse weather conditions.
Vijayendra urged the authorities not to delay their response by waiting for potential central government assistance. He stated that the state administration must take immediate independent action to address the crisis affecting agricultural communities across the region.
The demand comes as more than 28 districts in Karnataka are currently grappling with severe drought conditions. These conditions have been attributed to poor rainfall patterns that have significantly impacted water availability and crop yields throughout the state.

Vijayendra made these remarks after conducting visits to various villages within the Tumakuru district. The purpose of these visits was to directly assess the on-ground situation regarding the drought's impact on local farming communities.
During a press interaction following his field tour, Vijayendra explained that the BJP has established seven dedicated study teams. These teams were formed with the specific objective of understanding the actual extent and nature of the drought situation across different parts of the state.
