Bunu District Rally Formalizes Support
Stakeholders in the Bunu District of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area in Kogi State have formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for re-election in 2027. The endorsement also includes Senator Sunday Karimi for another term representing the Kogi West Senatorial District.
The declaration was made during a large-scale All Progressives Congress (APC) rally held on Saturday at the Community Primary School in Odo-Ape, which serves as the headquarters of Bunu District. A motion seeking the formal endorsement of President Tinubu, Vice President Shettima, and Senator Karimi was unanimously adopted by voice vote at the event.
The district comprises six of the 15 wards in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area: Akutupa-Kiri, Aiyetoro-Kiri (Aiyetoro Gbede), Iluke, Olle/Oke-Offin, Okebukun, and Odo-Ape. Stakeholders stated that their decision was based on the leadership, representation, and development initiatives of the Tinubu administration and Senator Karimi’s tenure in office.
Meseko Highlights Federal Reforms
Hon. Durosinmi Meseko, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, urged support for the incumbent leaders during the rally. Represented by Hon. Folorunsho Braimoh, Meseko cited infrastructure, economic reforms, education financing, and social interventions under the federal government as key reasons for the endorsement.
Meseko noted that while some federal economic reforms were difficult, they attracted investments and strengthened confidence in the Nigerian economy. He expressed confidence that Bunu District would record strong electoral support for the APC in 2027.
Karimi Details Legislative Interventions
Senator Sunday Karimi thanked stakeholders for the endorsement and supported Tinubu’s re-election bid. He highlighted interventions in infrastructure, education, agriculture, economic reforms, and security as part of the federal government's agenda.
Karimi listed his specific interventions in Kogi West, which include educational support, women empowerment programs, solar-powered boreholes, the reconstruction of Pakuta Bridge, school renovations, electricity transformers, and support for youths and farmers.
On the federal level, Karimi cited initiatives including the removal of fuel subsidy, the establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), clearance of foreign exchange obligations, road construction, increased sub-national allocations, and agricultural interventions.
Local Leadership Commends Development Record
Pastor Obayomi Lawrence, the Bunu District APC Chairman, commended Karimi’s record during his tenure. He specifically cited student support, women empowerment, borehole provision, the Pakuta Bridge project, school renovations, and transformer supplies as evidence of effective representation.
The gathering served as a platform for local stakeholders to align with the national party leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections.
