Singh Emphasizes Collective Identity and Historical Precedents

Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Saturday highlighted the spirit of unity and collective resistance displayed by the state's diverse communities in successfully repelling the Burmese Army during the Manipur-Burmese War and safeguarding the state's territorial integrity.

Singh underscored the historical contributions of the Naga community during the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891, highlighting their role in the state's history. Addressing a gathering at Hao Ground in Singjamei Chinga Mathak of Imphal West district, Singh noted that prior to the merger of Manipur with the Indian Union, the Speaker of the first-ever Manipur Assembly after the 1948 election belonged to the Kuki-Zo community.

Singh stated that this historical fact reflected the collective role of the diverse communities residing in the state. He called on all communities in the state to identify as Manipuris to foster unity and strengthen oneness.

Focus on Restoring Normalcy and Economic Vision

The Chief Minister stated he had been entrusted by Central leaders with the responsibility to restore normalcy and peace to the state. Singh appealed to residents of the Singjamei Assembly constituency to share this responsibility for bringing back normalcy.

He urged people to avail themselves of opportunities and benefits from various state government departments and schemes. Describing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision, Singh said India was the 11th largest economy globally before Modi became Prime Minister and is now the fourth largest.

Singh stated that the "Viksit Bharat 2047" vision aims to build a strong India by the time the country attains 100 years of independence.

Programme Activities and Scheme Distribution

The gathering was organised in connection with the 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan'. During the programme, Singh inspected stalls set up by government departments under Imphal West administration supervision and interacted with officials regarding schemes.

Singh distributed benefits under various government schemes to eligible beneficiaries during the event at Hao Ground.
