Regional ministers call for speed in US-Iran deal
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Egypt stressed the importance of a swift conclusion to negotiations between the United States and Iran during a Regional Four (R-4) meeting held in Cairo on June 21, 2026.
The four nations participated in the gathering alongside their counterparts from other regional stakeholders. Foreign Ministers Hakan Fidan representing Turkiye, Ishaq Dar for Pakistan, Badr Abdel Ati for Egypt and Faisal bin Farhan for Saudi Arabia posed for a picture ahead of the meeting on that date.
Concurrent technical talks in Switzerland
The R-4 meeting took place while Pakistan, along with co-mediator Qatar, hosted delegations from the United States and Iran. These hosts facilitated high-level technical talks intended to iron out details of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Pakistan and Qatar coordinated the hosting arrangements for these discussions in Switzerland.

The four nations welcomed the signing of an Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the US and Iran. This event occurred during their Sunday meeting on June 21, 2026.
