Modi’s Warning on 'Dimagi Naxalism' and Opposition Tactics
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has issued a stark warning against what he termed "Dimagi Naxalism," accusing the political opposition of making obstruction central to its politics following more than a decade of electoral setbacks. Speaking at an event in Gujarat, the Prime Minister alleged that certain forces within the country are engaged in continuous conspiracies to divide the nation and create instability.
Addressing a gathering on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 151st birth anniversary, Modi questioned the nature of overseas meetings by political leaders, remarks widely seen as a veiled attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He asked, "Who is secretly meeting whom abroad? Which anti-India forces are supporting them? Who is speaking the language of India’s enemies?" The Prime Minister urged citizens to recognize these patterns and confront them unitedly.
Allegations of Misinformation and Constitutional Violations
The Prime Minister accused the opposition of violating constitutional dignity and boundaries, alleging that attempts to spread misinformation pose a significant challenge. He specifically pointed to the weaponization of social media, stating that certain groups are using these platforms to circulate rumors and damage the country’s reputation.
"Social media is being weaponised to spread rumours and to malign India’s image," Modi said, adding that citizens must handle this issue together. He alleged that forces within India had tried to create instability through falsehoods, describing vicious plots hatched to divide and instigate conflict among the children of Mother India.
Unity and Resilience Amid Global Challenges
Despite these allegations, Modi praised India’s resilience amid global disruptions and a worsening international fuel crunch. He stated that the country had successfully protected its citizens from the impact of the global energy crisis, even as several other nations struggled with supplies. He urged citizens to remain united in the face of these challenges.
Modi highlighted the strength of the Indian people, saying, "However, the citizens stood shoulder to shoulder with the nation. This is the greatest strength of this country, and it serves as the ultimate foundation for our courage." He emphasized that while Naxalism had been eliminated in far-flung areas, the threat of 'Dimagi Naxalism' had not yet been averted, requiring constant alertness from the nation.
Celebrating Sardar Patel and National Unity
The address was part of the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations. Earlier in the day, Modi offered floral tributes at the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar, where Indian Air Force helicopters showered flower petals over him. He later attended the celebrations, administered the unity pledge, and reviewed the Ekta Parade at the Parade Ground, reinforcing the theme of national integration associated with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
