Laura draws from a real incident that captivated Poland in February 2006, detailing a dramatic search-and-rescue at the Halemba coal mine. A miner became trapped underground, and on the fourth day, as hope waned, the rescue team heard a faint knocking on the pipeline. After nearly a week-long operation, he was rescued.
