Wallander

Wallander is a Swedish television series adapted from Henning Mankell's Kurt Wallander novels, with Krister Henriksson in the title role. The first series comprises 13 films produced in 2005 and 2006, including one adaptation drawn directly from a novel, while the remaining installments feature new storylines suggested by Mankell. A second 13-film series aired between 2009 and 2010. The narratives unfold in Ystad, at the southern edge of Sweden. Three films—Before the Frost, Mastermind, and The Secret—premiered in cinemas, while the rest were released first as direct-to-DVD features. The first episode of the second series, Hämnden, opened in Swedish cinemas in January 2009; the remainder of that series was produced for television. The BBC broadcast all 26 episodes of the Swedish versions on BBC Four. A third and final season, consisting of six 90-minute episodes, was scheduled to air in 2013 with Charlotta Jonsson portraying Linda Wallander. The opening episode, adapted from The Troubled Man, was released in cinemas in January 2013.
