The Australian Dollar retreated by 0.15% on Monday, according to data from Fxstreet published at 23:13:50 GMT on June 22, 2026.

At the time of writing for that publication date, the AUD/USD pair fell below the 0.7000 level and was poised to re-test lower prices.

The US Dollar held onto gains of 0.24% in the US Dollar Index (DXY) on Monday during this period.

This currency movement occurred following a round of talks between the United States and Iran that took place in Switzerland, as reported by Fxstreet.

Fxstreet analysis noted that hawkish bets regarding the Federal Reserve outweighed geopolitical relief associated with these diplomatic developments.

The Federal Reserve's shift in stance was described as catching investors off guard. Markets began to price in a more hawkish central bank following this development, according to Fxstreet reporting.

Christian Borjon Valencia at FXStreet reported that money markets had priced in nearly 40 basis points of interest rate adjustments prior to the Federal Reserve's shift in stance.

FXStreet analysis stated that upcoming Core PCE data and US inflation or jobs data could test the patience of the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA).
