The Basics of Philosophy
A repressed philosophy professor, Dr. John Jorissen, works at Ridgemont College, a small liberal-arts college in the American Midwest. He teaches an introductory course while composing a scholarly volume on the renowned Dutch philosopher Baruch Spinoza. Haunted by a transgression long kept hidden and the sudden reappearance of its victim, he descends into a crisis of guilt, desire, and spiritual reckoning.
