Where Do You Stand, Tsai Ming-liang?

On medical advice, Lee Kang-sheng and I retreated to the mountains, where we have no neighbors. Our house sits among a row of derelict structures, and I feel a deep affinity for these forsaken houses. I stroll through them at ease, admiring their quiet beauty. I told Lee Kang-sheng that we no longer needed to travel elsewhere to make films; I would create all my remaining work right here. I gathered old chairs and a selection of my paintings, arranging them within these abandoned spaces. And so this film was born.
