Control Shifts Across Bay Region Districts

Forces aligned with former Southwest State President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed, known by the nom de guerre Laftagareen, have reportedly taken control of four districts in the Bay region. The districts are Diinsoor, Qansax Dheere, Buurhakaba, and Bardaale.

Local sources described the transitions of power as withdrawals and handovers that occurred without fighting in most locations. Reports indicate that approximately 90% of the districts changed hands peacefully.

The takeover of Buurhakaba was an exception to this pattern. Sources report that heavy fighting accompanied the capture of that specific district, contrasting with the non-violent transfers observed elsewhere.

These developments have intensified scrutiny regarding the support enjoyed by rival administrations in Southwest State and the ability of the Mogadishu-backed leadership in Baidao to maintain control beyond the regional capital.

Civilian Appeals for Peaceful Entry

Residents and community sources in Baidao have expressed reluctance to see their city become a battlefield. Elders and religious leaders are reportedly urging Laftagareen’s forces to enter the city peacefully.

Community leaders argue that civilians should not be forced to flee their homes or suffer the consequences of a battle between rival factions. The appeals focus on avoiding civilian casualties and displacement.

Some residents reportedly view Laftagareen’s forces as more acceptable to local communities compared to other factions. In some areas, these forces have distributed food to residents, according to reports.

Federal Troop Logistics Under Pressure

Claims indicate that federal troops supporting Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe’s administration face logistical challenges in the region. These troops, including Gorgor special forces, are reportedly experiencing pressure due to stopped fuel shipments around Buurhakaba.

Flight restrictions have further reduced resupply options for these federal forces. Sources in Baidao report that these conditions contribute to the isolation of government-aligned troops.

WardheerNews reported these claims regarding federal troop isolation, noting that they could not be independently verified in full.
