Saudi Arabia’s Energy Allocation for Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure
Saudi Arabia has allocated approximately 14 gigawatts of power capacity to support what the company HUMAIN refers to as "AI factories." This allocation is part of a broader strategy to build an integrated artificial intelligence ecosystem within the Kingdom.
The move comes as companies and countries globally race to secure the computing capacity required to train and operate advanced artificial intelligence models. This competition occurs amid growing constraints on the availability of energy, computer chips, and data centers.
HUMAIN stated that the Kingdom is betting on its abundant energy supplies and expanding digital infrastructure to facilitate this development.
Leadership Statements and Strategic Focus
Tareq Amin, CEO of HUMAIN, addressed the company's focus during a panel discussion at Servcorp’s inaugural economic forum in Riyadh. The event took place on Sept. 30, 2026.
Amin explained that the company is focusing not only on providing computing capacity but also on developing software and systems in-house rather than purchasing off-the-shelf software solutions. This strategic pivot aims to reduce dependency on external vendors for core technological components.
Regarding the timeline for acquiring necessary hardware, Amin noted that access to graphics processing units could take several months. This potential delay prompted the consideration of building an integrated AI ecosystem within Saudi Arabia to mitigate supply chain constraints and ensure operational continuity.
Government Cooperation and International Partnerships
Amin stated that cooperation with the Energy Ministry and several other government entities helped accelerate the allocation of land and infrastructure for the project. He asserted that the Kingdom possesses the resources needed to build such an ecosystem, leveraging state support to streamline regulatory and logistical hurdles.
In terms of international collaboration, HUMAIN has signed agreements with companies including Amazon. Additionally, Amin noted that work on a joint project with AMD is currently progressing, signaling active engagement with global technology leaders to bolster the domestic AI infrastructure.
