WWE SummerSlam 1991
WWE SummerSlam '91 marked the fourth annual installment of the marquee event, staged on August 26, 1991, at Madison Square Garden in New York, New York. The night is best remembered for the on-screen wedding of Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth, billed by announcer Vince McMahon as "A Match Made in Heaven." In a dramatic counterpoint, the show featured "A Match Made in Hell," a handicap tag team battle pitting WWF Champion Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior against Sgt. Slaughter, General Adnan and Colonel Mustafa. Additional highlights included The Legion of Doom, better known as The Road Warriors, defeating The Nasty Boys to claim the WWE World Tag Team Championship, with the duo becoming the only team in wrestling history to have held the WWE World Tag Team Championship, the NWA World Tag Team Championship, and the AWA World Tag Team Championship. Another notable moment saw Bret "The Hitman" Hart challenge Mr. Perfect for the WWE Intercontinental Championship, marking Hart's bid for his first singles title in WWE.
